In addition to the casinos, Los Angeles locals head to Gardena for one of the more unique and interesting shopping experiences at Marukai Market, a 450,000-square-foot Japanese version of Sam's Club. You can sample dim sum in the food court or pick up bargains on Japanese ceramics, furniture, food and more.
Sports fans can take in a Los Angeles Galaxy soccer match or a number of amateur sporting events including Olympic trials at the Home Depot Center in nearby Carson.
Redondo Beach Community Attractions and Things to Do
Stay on the west side of LA and you are just minutes from the beach community of Redondo Beach. From this popular local beach, you can surf, sun, fly a kite, take a whale watching cruise, rent a bike, try your hand at snorkeling or scuba diving or watch the sunset from the Redondo pier and esplanade, one of the more romantic things to do in Los Angeles. You're also not far Manhattan Beach, another local hot spot where you can watch or play volleyball, marvel at southern Californian surfing skills or sit at a seaside café.
Shopping opportunities abound at the shops all along Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach. You can pick up original art, jewelry or surfing gear. For a more traditional shopping experience, head to the South Bay Galleria, a Redondo Beach mall anchored by Macy's, Mervyn's, Nordstrom and Target.
Sightseeing and Interesting Things to Do in the Los Angeles Area
Los Angeles offers so many fun things to do, it can be hard to decide which to do first. However no trip to Los Angeles would be complete without visiting major Los Angeles attractions such as the theme parks. At Universal Studios Hollywood you can ride movie and TV-themed rides such as The Revenge of the Mummy or the new Simpsons Ride or take the studio tour to see a real live studio in action, and if you're lucky, a few celebrities. A number of movies and TV shows have been filmed here including Desperate Housewives and Back to the Future.
It's possible to spend one day at Universal Studios Hollywood and the next at Disneyland. Check for specials between the two parks for big savings. Disneyland is still the quintessential family vacation in southern California and, like Universal Studios, one of the most popular sightseeing attractions of Los Angeles. The area around the Los Angeles Convention Center is quickly becoming a new entertainment area for tourists and locals in the LA area. L.A. LIVE is a new entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles next to the Los Angeles Convention Center. Currently the 6-block district includes the 7,100-seat Nokia Theatre. By late 2008, the district will include the new Grammy Museum, ESPN's West Coast headquarters and 12 restaurants including a new Wolfgang Puck restaurant.
Public events at the Los Angeles Convention Center might include an Anime Expo or Home and Garden Show. At nearby Staples Center, you can catch a Clippers, Lakers or LA Sparks game, watch Kings hockey or attend one of the center's major concerts. Click here for more information.

Long Beach Attractions and Things to Do
Opportunities for fun abound at all the attractions in the port town and beach community of nearby Long Beach. From here you take full advantage of Long Beach's 5-plus-mile beachfront and rent jet skis, kayaks, bikes, surfboards or Segways. Tour Long Beach's waterways aboard a deep sea fishing, whale watching or riverboat dinner cruise or take a romantic gondola ride around Naples Island.
Other fun things to do in Long Beach can be found near the water, as well. Explore the former passenger ship the Queen Mary, now permanently docked in Long Beach, You can take the behind the scenes tour and then shop, dine and even take in a Broadway-style Cabaret show aboard the former luxury liner.
